This year Nizza docg celebrates its 4th birthday. The year 2020 has been a challenge for us all, but this has not put a damper on our desire to celebrate our territory’s young but oh so precious wine!
To mark the anniversary of Nizza DOCG, this year the Association of Nizza DOCG Producers held a digital party on July 1st, to celebrate #NatailPrimoLuglio, where producers and guests from the food and wine sectors were invited to talk about Nizza.
On June 29th, the traditional annual blind tasting was held and led by enologists and producers. The tasting concentrated on vintages not yet released to the market, Nizza DOCG 2018 and Nizza DOCG Riserva 2017. The blind tasting confirmed yet again that Nizza docg is among the most promising wines from Piemonte to be produced in the last 10 years.
Nizza DOCG 2018: Despite low temperatures and abundant rain, this vintage has a beautiful intense color, excellent structure and good acidity. The wine is clean, and minimum aging requirements in oak confirm that all Nizza producers are consistently producing a wine with a characteristic “Nizza style”.
Nizza DOCG Riserva 2017: The climatic conditions in this vintage were dry and hot. The result is a wine with excellent structure and intense color, high acidity that beautifully balances its alcohol levels.
We look forward to more and more fantastic vintages of this high quality red wine made with 100% Barbera grapes.
