The overall goal is to produce 1.5 million bottles to conquer markets around the world
Nizza is no longer a random surprise but it now a true consolidated accomplishment. Our jewel is in fact conquering international markets and is finding its rightful place among great Italian reds. Nizza has continued to grow despite the pandemic and the territory has even managed to increase its overall production, reaching 14 million Euros.
What are the secrets to this success? The ability to combine tradition and innovation, as suggested by the President of the Association of Nizza producers, Gianni Bertolino. But there’s also the passion of Nizza producers and their meticulous attention to making a quality product which is nothing short of magic in each single bottle that is produced throughout this magnificent territory.
Growth has been important, but we are already looking ahead to the future, with ambitious development plans. In 2020, the year of the pandemic, the total production of Nizza grew by 4% to 635 thousand bottles produced, but the goal is to bring the 240 potential hectares of Nizza docg into full production, which will equate to about 1.5 million bottles.
The marketing strategy will continue to focus on the Ho.Re.Ca. sector, which is highly capable of imparting value to a wine such as Nizza, that deserves to be discovered and appreciated. We at il Botolo strongly believe that educating consumers on the characteristics of Nizza is the key to entering markets across the globe, including those markets that are traditionally considered to be difficult, such as Northern Europe.
We are extremely proud to contribute to the growth of this extraordinary wine, symbol of an entire community destined to become the pride of our country at an international level. Without a doubt, we could not embark on this journey without the passion and vision of the Association of Nizza producers, which guides and encourages the more than 60 dedicated producers to reach for the stars: as President Bertolino reiterated, in fact, “our denomination grows with its territory”, which is promoted thanks to the teamwork among winemakers, producers and all the other players in the supply chain. As always, and even more so today, together we win.
Thanks to an initiative promoted by the Association of Nizza Producers, il Botolo wines travelled to New York.
Six sommeliers, beverage directors and wine buyers from some of New York’s best restaurants and wine bars received a tasting box with Botolo Barbera d’Asti Docg, Nizza Docg and Moscato d’Asti Docg. The tasting box included ingredients to make a truffle risotto as well as other typical Piedmontese delicacies.
Participants tasted, cooked and enjoyed the contents of the Botolo Box.
