The Market
China is one of the world’s largest markets for imported wine. And with a population of 1.4 billion in 2017, China is now the sixth leading wine consumer in the world, just behind Germany. The potential for the Chinese market is considerable, with consumption expected to rise by over one third to billion over the next five years when it will reach a volume of 192 million cases.
France is the leader of the wine market in China occupying 45% of imported wines;
Australia (14%), Chile and Italy (9%) and Spain (8%) follow in the ranking.
